Dobson Ice Arena

At 35,000-square-feet, Dobson Ice Arena is one of the largest multi-purpose ice facilities on Colorado’s Western Slope. It’s open year-round for hockey, figure skating and broomball. It hosts ice events such as the Vail Invitational Skating Championships and the Bob Johnson Hockey Camp, yet the Lipizanner Stallions have also performed here, and the arena has been home to many concerts. In late October, Ski and Snowboard Club Vail conducts its annual equipment swap, a longstanding Vail Valley tradition. Dobson Ice Arena offers a variety of public-skate times, classes, leagues, and competitions. It is also home to Vail Junior Hockey Club and Skating Club of Vail.

Directions
Dobson Ice Arena sits between the LionsHead parking structure and Vail Valley Medical Center. It is on the in-town Vail Village/LionsHead bus route, across from the Vail Library. By car, from the main Vail roundabout (I-70 exit 176), take South Frontage Road West to the LionsHead parking structure. Park here. Walk to the southeast exit, and you will see Dobson Ice Arena. The entrance is on the south, across from the library.


Vail Golf Club

The Vail Golf Club, nestled at the base of the Gore Mountain Range, presents golfers with a unique 18-hole, par 71 experience. The Vail Valley’s most walkable course, the golf club is open to the public and features a full service pro shop, group/corporate outings, professional instruction, driving range, practice area, golf swing analysis and Happy Valley Grill, featuring Rocky Mountain fare at its finest. Recognized by Golf Digest as a "Top 100 Resort Course," golfers enjoy playing greens that follow the Gore Creek and lay adjacent to the White River National Forest.

Directions
The Vail Golf Club is located approximately 100 miles west of Denver or 147 miles east of Grand Junction along Interstate 70. Take exit 176, turn on to South Frontage Road (east), travel east approximately 1.5 miles, then turn right on Vail Valley Drive. Follow this approximately ½ mile until you arrive at the Vail Golf Club. 


Vail Nature Center

The Vail Nature Center is housed in a log cabin perched between alpine meadow and forest at Gore Creek’s edge. This seven-acre enclave in the heart of Vail offers residents and guests opportunities to learn about, appreciate and immerse themselves in our mountain environment. The knowledgeable staff hosts informative bird, wildfower and beaver pond hikes. Classes in arts which incorporate nature are offered as well as courses about medicinal plants and instruction in fly fishing. Camp Eco Fun is just for children. The Nature Center offers activities at night, and it takes groups outside its boundaries to enjoy our larger environment. Primarily a summer facility, Vail Nature Center does offer limited winter classes and activities. 

Directions
From the Frontage Road:
Take the East Vail or Golf Course bus from the Transportation Center and get off at the Ford Park stop. If driving, from the main Vail roundabout (I-70 exit 176), proceed on South Frontage Road East .9 mile to Ford Park. Park here. Walk south, veering left, past the Tennis Center and down the hill. The path skirts the amphitheater, then comes to a bridge on the left. Cross the bridge and go left/east, following the path to the cabin.

From Vail Valley Drive:
Take the Golf Course bus from the Transportation Center and get off at the Soccer Field stop. Walk west along Vail Valley Drive until you see stairs on the right leading down to the river. At the bridge, do not cross, go right, and follow the path to the cabin.
If walking from Golden Peak, proceed east on Vail Valley Drive about five minutes until you see stairs and the path down to the river on your left. 
 

Vail Tennis Center

The Vail Tennis Center is comprised of eight Har-Tru clay courts, four hard courts and a full-service pro shop. Its remarkable view of the Gore Range is accented by the rushing sound of Gore Creek just down the hill. Open Memorial Day weekend through September 30, affordable court and equipment rentals, private lessons and group clinics are available to residents and guests of all ages. Evening and weekend play is scheduled for Men, Women, Mixed Doubles and Men 60+, as well as week-long junior camps. In August, the Bill Wright Colorado Clay Court Open, a USTA-sanctioned event, draws players region-wide.

From the Frontage Road:
Take the East Vail or Golf Course bus from the Transportation Center and get off at the Ford Park stop. If driving, from the main Vail roundabout (I-70 exit 176), proceed on South Frontage Road East .9 mile to Ford Park. Park here. Follow the path bisecting the courts to the Pro Shop.

From Vail Valley Drive:
Take the Golf Course bus from the Transportation Center and get off at the Soccer Field stop. Walk west along Vail Valley Drive until you see stairs on the right leading down to the river. At the bridge, cross, go right, and follow the path uphill to the Pro Shop on your left. If walking from Golden Peak, proceed east on Vail Valley Drive about five minutes until you see stairs and the path down to the river on your left. 
 

Vail Gymnastics Center

With 9,000 square feet and state-of-the-art equipment, Vail Gymnastics Center offers a first-class facility for gymnastics, martial arts, trampoline and fencing. Whether preschooler or adult, recreational enthusiast or competitive athlete, we have a program for you. All classes and teams are open to guests on a drop-in basis. This facility is available for events rentals.

Directions
Vail Gymnastics Center is located on North Frontage Road, next to Red Sandstone Elementary School, and across the pedestrian bridge over I-70 from LionsHead. It is accessible via the West Vail Red, Sandstone, or Lionsridge Loop bus. Get off at the Sandstone School stop. Follow the drive on the right to the Gymnastics Center. If driving, from the main Vail roundabout (I-70 exit 176), take North Frontage Road. Follow it .6 mile. Turn right. Stay right as you proceed up the short hill to the Center. 
 

Vail's Imagination Station

Vail’s Imagination Station is a drop-in museum filled with hands-on activities designed to provide children ages 2-12 with opportunities to wonder and explore. Open year-round, it features a black-light room where children can capture their shadows, toddler play area and “science of sound” exhibits. If your child is three or older and potty-trained, he/she can be dropped off with Imagination Station staff for up to three hours. Reservations are required.  This facility is available for event rentals. Hours vary, call for details.

It is accessible via the LionsHead stop on the in-town Vail Village/LionsHead bus. Vail's Nordic Center

From November through March, the Vail Nordic Center utilizes the snowy Vail Golf Club and offers 17km. of groomed skate and classic track as well as 10km. of additional snowshoe trails. The Nordic Center pro shop is a top-notch, full-service shop which rents and sells equipment. It also sells clothing, offers snowshoe tours, conducts private lessons, teaches clinics on waxing and sells the required daily or season track passes. The Vail Nordic Club runs a Five-at-Five race series and holds an early-season Nordic Swap.

Directions
The Vail Nordic Center can be reached from the Transportation Center via the Golf Course bus; get off at the Club House stop. By car, from the main Vail roundabout (I-70 exit 176), take the South Frontage Road East. Proceed 1.4 miles, past Ford Park on your right. At Vail Valley Drive, turn right across the bridge. Proceed to the Club House on your left.


Vail Skatepark

As soon as the snow melts, the Vail Skatepark takes its place on the top level of the LionsHead parking structure. It is open every day, dawn to dusk. Youth, ages seven to 14 can join skateboard clinics from 10 a.m. to noon every Tuesday. Private lessons also available. Helmets are required. Knee pads and wrist guards are recommended.

Directions
Take the in-town Vail Village/LionsHead bus to the LionsHead stop. Proceed up the stairs to the top level of the structure. By car, from the main Vail roundabout (I-70 exit 176), take South Frontage Road West to the LionsHead parking structure.


Vail Athletic Fields

At Ford Park, we have multiple fields for softball, soccer, lacrosse, rugby and football. Here, we conduct most of our sports camps and adult sport leagues. It is also often the center for tournaments, such as the Vail Lacrosse Tournament and 3v3 Soccer Tournament. On Vail Valley Drive, we have a soccer/football field with goalposts, along with sand volleyball courts. At Donovan Park, we have one more playing field.

Directions to Ford Park
From the Frontage Road:
Via the East Vail bus from the Transportation Center, get off at the Ford Park stop. If driving, from the main Vail roundabout (I-70 exit 176), proceed on South Frontage Road East .9 mile to Ford Park. Park here. Follow the parking lot west to the fields.

From Vail Valley Drive:
Take the Golf Course bus from the Transportation Center, get off at the Soccer Field stop. Walk west along Vail Valley Drive until you see stairs on the right leading down to the river. At the bridge, cross, go right, and follow the path uphill. At the fork, go left past the Tennis Center to the fields. If walking from Golden Peak, proceed east on Vail Valley Drive about five minutes until you see stairs and the path down to the river on your left.

Directions to Soccer Field at Vail Valley Drive
Via the Golf Course bus from the Transportation Center, get off at the Soccer Field stop. By car, from the main Vail roundabout (I-70 exit 176), take South Frontage Road East heading toward Vail Village Parking Structure. Drive past the structure to the stop sign for Vail Valley Drive. Turn right. Follow Vail Valley Drive down the hill, past Golden Peak, and past the Northwoods Condominiums. The Soccer Field entrance is immediately on the right.

Directions to Field at Donovan Park
Via the West Vail Green bus from the Transportation Center, get off at the Cascade Village stop. Walk west along South Frontage Road West .4 mile to Donovan Park. By car, from the main Vail roundabout (I-70 exit 176), take South Frontage Road West. Proceed 1.9 miles, past LionsHead and the Vail Cascade Resort, to Donovan Park on the left.
