Vail Golf Club Renovation
The clubhouse/Nordic center project continues to move forward with the design phase and involves a comprehensive remodeling of the existing clubhouse and a modest expansion. All existing uses of the building such as the pro shop, Nordic center, restaurant and cart storage will be maintained, albeit with significant improvements to operations, building aesthetics and overall guest services. A new element of the building will be a “community/banquet room” designed to accommodate up to 150 people for activities such as weddings, meetings, receptions and community activities. Other aspects of the project include increased parking and improved traffic flow through the parking lot, a new staging/welcome area for golfers, landscaping, expanded patios and other site improvements. To date all design work is at a conceptual stage, making this an opportune time to offer comments and suggestions as design work progresses over the summer. Details, including current site plan sketches, are available by going to www.vailgov.com.

Highlighted by views of the Gore Mountain Range, Vail’s mountain-style, 18-hole course features unique fairways, smooth putting surfaces and a scenic layout amidst the White River National Forest. The fairways are tree-lined and generally flat, but numerous greenside and fairway bunkers, as well as beaver ponds, will test a golfer’s accuracy. Vail’s course features 7,024 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 71. A course rating of 70.8 and slope rating of 121 make it a truly spectacular experience for golfers of all skill levels. Recognized by Golf Digest as a "Top 100 Resort Course," golfers enjoy watching their balls fly 10 percent farther in Vail’s high altitude environment, while they challenge themselves on greens that follow the scenic Gore Creek. Designed and built by one of Vail’s pioneers, Ben Krueger, in 1962, Vail’s course continues to be thought of by many as one of the best courses in the Vail Valley -- a must-play among locals and guests alike. Once the golf course is blanketed with snow, it serves as Vail’s Nordic Center during the winter months, offering 17 kilometers of groomed ski track and 10 kilometers of separate snowshoe trails.
