Dobson Ice Arena is one of the largest multi-purpose ice facilities on Colorado’s Western Slope. Big enough to host concerts, it is open year-round for hockey, figure skating and broomball. It offers a variety of public-skate times, classes, leagues and competitions, from Story Time Skate in conjunction with the Vail Library, to the Vail Invitational Skating Championships, to mixed-martial arts competitions.
PM Skate Sessions | 7:30 to 10 p.m. Saturdays, Dobson Ice Arena
Open to the public and feature music, food and drink specials and affordable skate rentals. Costs are $5 for children 14 and younger, $6 for adults and $3 for skate rentals.
StoryTime Skating | 10 and 11 a.m. Wednesdays | Dobson Ice Arena/Town of Vail Public Library
Enjoy story hour at the library followed by skating at Dobson at either 10 or 11 a.m. on Wednesdays. Story hour is free and skating time is $10 per child for skates and instruction.
Public Skating | All Ages | Public Skate Times | Public Hockey Schedule
For the recreational skater, Dobson Ice Arena hosts open skating sessions for all ages and abilities. The arena also offers a wide array of hockey options for youth and adults, beginners to seasoned players. Skate rentals are $3 and admission is $2 for ages four and younger, $5 for ages five through 12 and $6 for ages 13 and older. Season passes are available.

Dobson Arena also administers a youth hockey camp every July. This camp is great for all ages. Now in its 25th year, Bob Johnson Hockey School has become as annual reason to vacation in Vail in the summer. The camp focuses on the fundamentals of hockey and offers three hours of on-ice instruction with another hour off the ice. Coaches include Mark Johnson, current coach of the 2010 Women's Olympic team and also a player on the 1980 Olympic Team who pulled off the Miracle on Ice.

Registration Form | Rules
This High School aged Summer League is for incoming Freshmen and outgoing Seniors. Participants register individually and will be drafted onto teams. Games will be played 4 vs. 4 half ice - no goalies. Game format will be two, 15 minute halves with a two minute intermission. Teams will play two games per session. Trained professionals are available for private instruction at the ice arena. Students are responsible for ice time fees. Instructor fees vary.

Youth Skating | 4 and older | Information
Dobson hosts a variety of youth skating opportunities for those ages four and older. From its Learn to Skate program to its more advanced instruction for both figure skating and ice hockey, children will enjoy the on-ice and off-ice action that Dobson has to offer.
ShowTime Skating (WINTER ONLY) | 4 and older
ShowTime Skating is perfect for skaters seeking to apply their skills in a show format, similar to dance recital classes. Classes include rehearsal time, costumes, choreography and skate rentals. There is one session each year with a performance during the Christmas holiday season. Past performances have included High School Musical on Ice and The Society of Super Heroes on Ice.
Adult Leagues | 18 Years and Older | Schedule | Standings | Rules
Dobson Arena is currently looking for players and teams to participate in their Summer Adult Leagues. There will be A, B, C, Women's and Coed Divisions. Team fees are $1,800 for a 10 game season that will start the week of June 4th and run through August. All players must be registered with USA Hockey. Groups/ Corporate Events/ Concerts
Dobson plays host to corporate events, concerts and various groups throughout the year. Events that have been hosted include concerts featuring The Frey, Ziggy Marley, Big Head Todd and the Monsters and Leftover Salmon to name a few; events such as the Lippizaner Stallions and E.A.G.L.E.S State Gymnastics Championships; and groups such as the Future Business Leaders of America.
