The $3.2 million expenditure to replace the Vail Golf Club's 40-year-old irrigation system took place from mid-April to the end of August in 2009. The project was cost-shared between the Town of Vail and Vail Recreation District and will allow the golf course to apply water to specified areas and prepare for a drought, become a more responsible user of water on the course, as well as improve the health of the greens and areas of play.

Landscapes Unlimited, LLC., of Lincoln, Neb., was the general contractor on the project and has experience with irrigation work at Red Sky Ranch Golf Course; Beaver Creek Golf Course; Pole Creek Golf Course near Fraser; Colorado Golf Club located in Parker; Mountain Course at the Broadmoor Hotel in Colorado Springs; as well as other award-winning courses in Colorado and throughout the country.
