Operated by the VRD's Youth Services department, KidZone is fully licensed by the Colorado Department of Human Services - Division of Child Care. Staff members are highly qualified youth professionals. It is the goal of Youth Services personnel to provide engaging life experiences for young people that promote physical activity and cognitive development in an inclusive setting where kids learn to make positive choices. VRD Youth Services accomplishes this by:
- Providing a safe, caring and accepting environment
- Involving youth in developmentally appropriate activities
- Encouraging creativity and curiosity
- Modeling positive life skills
KidZone's purpose is to provide a semi-structured program during non-school hours that engages and challenges children so they may thrive socially, physically, emotionally, and intellectually. KidZone meets after school and on designated no-school days. Through sports, gym games, playground play, arts and crafts, group games, homework help, after school chores and relaxation time, KidZone's flexible schedule allows children to make choices, work and play cooperatively, develop a sense of responsibility and provides an experience full of imagination and activity.
KidZone uses gymnasium facilities, the cafeteria, the room above the gym, other Vail Recreation District facilities, the Red Sandstone or Edwards Elementary outdoor environment and community surroundings to engross and inspire children. Staff members are active participants in children's activities and openly communicate with children's families. Please familiarize yourself with our operational policies and procedures. | Reservations | Advance reservations and payment are required for your child to attend KidZone After School or School's Out Camp. Call 479-2292 to make reservations or to see if space is available for drop-in. You must notify your child's teacher in writing that s/he will attend KidZone After School. Your child is not registered, nor considered in attendance, until s/he arrives at the program. |

| What to Bring |
Lunch, water bottle, snow pants, snow boots, hat, gloves and a backpack. Appropriate clothing for daily activities and please label everything! All fees are included and children may not spend money while at Kidzone. |
